Peplink Pepwave Balance 20x is the ideal mobile or rural home internet solution due to its advanced features and rock-solid reliability.  This is a unique option for 2020, as it features a cat4 modem built into the device and a part that allows you to insert a second unit capable of supporting load balancing, Speedfusion, and next-generation LTE modems.

You can expand this module to include a Cat 6 or Cat 12 secondary modem, as well as the Cat 6 12 or 5G Max USB Adapter (available in Cat 6, 12, or 5G versions) which offers 3 modem functions at an incredible price.

As well as 802.11ac/a/n and 802.11b/g/n 2×2 MIMO WiFi, this router has a built-in North American 3G/4G/LTE modem, which supports major cellular data providers. Carriers in the United States and Canada are included. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & Sprint use the latest LTE bands for their LTE-A modems, but legacy networks still get limited 3G support. By using a single, easy-to-use device that supports multiple SIM slots and automatic failover switching, you will always be connected while on the road without the need for a hotspot or tethering.

How it Works

prplink balance 20x

For travelers or people living in rural areas, the Balance 20x offers a reliable internet solution. The Balance 20x offers cellular failover, load balancing, or bonding with an existing DSL, Cable, or Satellite connection for rural home users. In addition to offering dual mobile modem solutions at an attractive price, it offers advanced features including SDWAN bonding licensing.

With the Balance 20x’s integrated CAT 4 modem, you can load this router with multiple sim cards from various carriers allowing you to select which sim/carrier is in use (one sim at a time without expansion modules). Signals from your mobile connection are re-broadcast wirelessly inside your RV or home using the high-powered WiFi that is capable of simultaneously broadcasting 802.11ac wave 2/ac/a/n and 802.11b/g/n. You get strong 2.4GHz (long-range) and 5GHz wireless capabilities with wired ethernet ports (4) + WAN for audio/video equipment, computers, and workstations.

With its highly customizable user interface, the unit can satisfy the needs of power users and be extremely easy to use for the nontechnical. You can either use the included AC adapter for 110v installation or use 12v inputs in the range of 10 to 30 volts.

Conclusion

My favorite part about the Peplink product is that it truly bonds data packets in an encrypted tunnel across multiple disparate technologies. Unlike others, Peplink offers fail-over redundancy in real-time with bonded redundancy, not just fail-over redundancy.
